Mechanism of Action of Eucapil (Fluridil) - 'How it actually works'.
In an effort to develop a more powerful and safe inhibitor of the androgen receptor, the laboratories Biophysica, Inc. in California in collaboration with the research laboratories of a Czech biotech-pharma company, Interpharma Praha, developed a novel class of substances which proved to render the androgen receptor inactive in a novel way. A number of new molecules were synthesized and tested. Some proved not to be resorbed either orally or topically. Interpharma Praha took the most promising molecule

and have modified its structure so that even the smallest amount of water would cause its decomposition.This innovative design represents an effective safety feature rendering the new molecule; called fluridil, incapable of pharmacological activity should it ever find its way inside the body. Interpharma Praha, a. s. then conducted numerous studies to ascertain the systemic and topical toxicity in animals, and finally in human volunteers at the Experimental Dermatology Institute of the University of California, San Francisco under the leadership of Professor Howard Maibach.
